Lady Plains­men break the Bronco’s

The num­ber one ranked wyopreps.com Laramie Lady Plains­men matched up with the Sheri­dan Lady Broncs tonight in Laramie and were vic­to­ri­ous over the Lady Broncs with a final score of 54–35.  The young Sheri­dan team came out slug­gish scor­ing only nine points in the first half com­pared to Laramie’s 18. The top scorer of the game was Laramie’s own Amber Van­diver with a total of 16 points, the sec­ond high­est scor­ers were Haley King of Sheri­dan with 10 points and Kylee Ander­son of Laramie also with 10. Absent from lead­ing scor­ers in tonight’s game was Kayla Wood­ward of Sheri­dan, who holds the high­est aver­age in the state for scor­ing at 25 points per game this sea­son, she only scored seven points in tonight’s game.

Sheri­dan head coach Derek Bis­sitt stated, “we just need to get Kayla (Wood­ward) more touches per game.”

Laramie head coach Rod Tyson said that his team was able to keep the ball from Wood­ward and did so effec­tively by hold­ing her to seven points for tonight’s game. Coach Tyson went on to say that Sheri­dan, “is a good team, but was not able to set up their offense tonight.” Laramie cap­i­tal­ized on this and was able to take it to the Lady Broncs to which Bis­sitt said “Laramie played hard, deep, and has a lot of talent.”

One sig­nif­i­cant player who pos­sesses much tal­ent is Van­diver of Laramie, who led in scor­ing and rebounds tonight, Bissitt char­ac­terised Van­diver as “the best post player in the state.”

LHS hosts first Nordic ski meet of season

altThe Laramie High School Nordic Ski Team hosted the first high school Nordic race of the year at Happy Jack recre­ation area this Fri­day and Sat­ur­day. The six Wyoming teams com­peted in team sprint races Fri­day and a dis­tance freestyle race Saturday.

Two ath­letes made up each team for the sprint race, con­sist­ing of a .8 km loop around the camp ground, com­pleted a total of six times for var­sity races and four times for junior var­sity races. For the men’s var­sity, Kelly Walsh High School (KWHS) of Casper took first, fol­lowed by Jack­son Hole and Laramie. In the women’s var­sity race, KWHS and Natrona County High School (NCHS) took first, fol­lowed by Jack­son Hole and Lan­der (LVHS) in third. NCHS and KWHS took first in the men’s junior var­sity race, fol­lowed by
