A tale of two halves

On an amazing autumn day the Wyoming Cowboys 1–3 (0−1 MWC) took on the Air Force Falcons 3–1 (2−0 MWC) to begin their Mountain West Conference season. It was Military Day at Jonah Field and all members of the armed forces, those who are with us and those who no longer are, were honored before the National Anthem. The Cowboys faced the Falcons for the 49th time. Air Force leads the series 26−20−3.

In the first quarter both teams worked the clock and moved the ball down the field. Both teams got within 10 yards of the endzone but neither team could put any points on the board. Wyoming’s Austyn Carta-Samuels threw in interception in the endzone for the only turnover of the game. The Falcons then marched down the field with relative ease, to end the first quarter.

To start the second quarter Air Force attempts a short field goal but misses wide right. The Cowboys get the ball on their own 20-yard-line and take Air Force’s option down the field for an eventual rushing touchdown by Alvester Alexander. The Falcons then did the same and scored a rushing touchdown of their own by Jared Tew. The Falcons then moved the ball down the field very quickly for a field goal attempt to end the half. Unfortunately for the Falcons, the snap was short and then muffed. No kick attempted. At halftime the game was tied at 7–7. … Continue Reading

Author: Kali February 6, 2010 Wyoming No Comments

Drug traffickers traveling across Wyoming have no place to hide from the Wyoming Highway Patrol.  In January of this year alone, over 129 pounds of marijuana has been confiscated, according to a Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP) news release on February 2, 2010.

In the last week, troopers have continued in their efforts in preventing the transport of drugs across Wyoming, and made two separate traffic stops January 29th on Interstate 80, which resulted in the arrest of a total for four individuals and the seizure of twenty three pounds of high grade marijuana.

The first stop, around 9 a.m. occurred three miles west of Elk Mountain. Wyoming Highway Patrol stopped an eastbound passenger vehicle carrying two individuals from California and approximately 20 pounds of marijuana. Both people were arrested at the traffic stop. (WHP press release). … Continue Reading

Anxious drug smuggler braves a closed I-80 to deliver “presents”

Author: Press Release December 29, 2009 News, Wyoming No Comments

DATE: MONDAY, DECEMBER 28, 2009

Cheyenne – Due to treacherous winter weather conditions numerous
roadways in Wyoming were closed to public travel on Christmas day.  In
particular, was Interstate 80 both eastbound and westbound lanes between
Cheyenne and Laramie.  The blowing and drifting snow at the higher
elevation between Cheyenne and Laramie made snow clearing operations and
driving conditions extremely hazardous.  The roadway was officially
closed on Christmas day just before 3:00 a.m.

That road closure on Interstate 80, however, did not keep one
individual from attempting to deliver his Christmas presents on time.
The Christmas presents contained just over 5 pounds of high grade
marijuana with a street value of approximately $13,500.00. … Continue Reading

Wyo Troopers busy with drug traffic

Author: Press Release December 18, 2009 News, Wyoming No Comments

[PRESS RELEASETHURSDAY, DECEMBER 17, 2009] Cheyenne – Troopers have made several significant arrests and seizures of illegal drugs during the last week on Wyoming’s roadways.

Three separate incidents have resulted in the arrests of 4 individuals and the seizure of 1.25 pounds of hashish, 69 pounds of marijuana, 4 glass containers of marijuana butter extract and just over $5,800.00 in U.S. currency.

Not all the events leading up to the arrests began as traffic stops as most people would think.

The first of the events began on Friday, December 11th at mile post #12 on WYO 72, or approximately 4 miles north of Elk Mountain, a Trooper stopped behind a vehicle pulled over onto the highway shoulder that appeared to be a motorist needing assistance.  Upon contact with the driver, 40 year-old Edward Gregory, he seemed to be extremely nervous. He handed the Trooper the vehicles car manual for the vehicle registration.  He then handed the Trooper some paperwork showing that he had failed to appear in court and thought that was his temporary driver’s license. … Continue Reading
